Charging or being charged

So today entailed a trip to Gero for some nice new hair and some much needed food, because old mother Hubbard's cupboard was apparently bare. We of course know that the male and female equivalent of 'theres no food in the house' is some what different. Anyhoo the shelves are stocked and i planted my still not feeling 100% butt on the couch with a cup of tea. Bliss! I here you say. Nope not today my friends. Arriving home from feeding cows my fellow ranger charger (Simon) informed me that several of our black bovine were testing the grass on the other side that is apparently always greener. Alas the other side was the neighbours. Off we trot to persuade said bovine that the grass/ hay/ stubble was perfectly acceptable on our side of the fence.
Upon reaching the ladies the ute was of course on the wrong side of the fence and my generally brave offsider was not keen to go head to head with the ladies. Enter havie wearing mum to jump the fence and proceed along behind the gals in deep gutless sand with a piece of dried up stalk and her finest Japanese riding boots for a km or so. I tried to imagine i was charging along the soft white sands of our west coast beaches but alas the strategically placed double gee plants made that extremely difficult. Not one to give up on a challenge I 'built a bridge' as Gus would say and charged on over it. The cows are now back on our side of the fence and currently planning their next adventure with gusto id imagine.
Of course the trials of life as a farmer are but a tiny blip compared to the trials that those diagnosed with cancer deal with. I know that most of them would much rather be traipsing through paddocks instead of sitting in hospital beds attached to a thousand machines and being pumped full of chemo. Lets help make this a thing of the past. Donate today for everyone thats sitting in their hospital beds wanting things to go back to normal. Xx

Of course I'm sick ?

Well to say im a slow starter would be an understatement! March 1 always creeps up like a child standing next to your bed in the night. Its silent then BAM its all up in your grill. So it came and went at my place and very little charging (well none) was done. Whoops! To be fair i did trek up and down the Three Springs pool a few thousand times and managed my 50m leg in the parents v year 6s relay with very little embarrassment. Its just i forgot to put my watch on and i forgot it was March. Oh well Angus would have called me a few choice names and reminded me I was getting old and needed to get a walking frame etc etc. Cheeky rat he was ?
It was then the long weekend which means to me an extra boy at home, no husband due to country week bowls and 3 sleep ins because im definitely NOT a morning person. Now what charging did i do over the weekend you ask ? weeelllll that would be little to none. In fact i have no idea where the time went. We did manage a bit of gardening farm style, which involves a chainsaw or 2, a chain and 2 loaders. I did do some shovelling and raking but definitely not enough to say id charged. Come Monday a 2 hour trip to the boarding house and back should have lead to me busting out some kms to loosen up but alas i fell pray to a nasty little virus which has lead to 2 useless days of achieving not a great deal. Today i managed 3 meetings, one of which i had to keep apologising that i was sick and my brain was fried. An excuse i plan to use everyday for the rest of my life. So just a heads up ?
Im hoping it will pass quickly and I can get back on the track or in the pool to work towards my goal of 50kms. However the charging is one thing, the money raised is the bit im here for. Without it the cancer council can not continue to research and educate about cancer! The biggest killer in my family and probably yours as well. The research that was undertaken between 1970s and 2022 kept my brother here with us for far longer than expected and millions of others and it will continue to do so into the future until we can finally crack the code to rid us of its nastiness forever. Please donate today and i will continue to attempt to charge on, but most of all ill continue to hassle you all until i have bleed you dry in order to save lives.

I'm taking on Cancer Council's The March Charge...

Whilst i was completing the charge in 2023 for my little brother Angus he slipped away from this life and into his next. He had been living with cancer from 18 months old until his last day 38 years later. Along the road cancer treatments improved in leaps and bounds but not enough to save him. Cancer has been in my life since day dot and i have lost so many loved ones to its clutches. I'm charging for every cancer patient in this world with the hope the cures will continue to improve and eventually do away with cancer forever. Help me in my quest. Xx

...a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research, prevention programs, and support services

This year in Australia an estimated 162,000 people will hear the words "you have cancer", I'm doing my part to change this by getting active and fundraising for people impacted by cancer.

Please sponsor me today to make every KM count! Every dollar raised will help support Cancer Council’s life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and support services (like their free, confidential Information and Support line 13 11 20) for people affected by cancer.

Let's tell cancer where to go!

So far this year I’ve helped provide:

522 kids with a SunSmart education

or

23 calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20

or

7 days of a PHD student’s world-class research
