The March Charge 2026

I'm Charging for my everyone who has been affected by Cancer

The toughest weekend walk so far

The past working week has been a little hectic; however, I managed to get out and about with my dear friend and teammate, Tanya.
We decided on the Spit to Manly walk - the second time for Tanya, and first ever walk along that track.
Packed with snacks, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses  and water, we made our way up, down and around steps and rock formations; first at a moderate pace, and as the sun bore down on us, a little slower, stopping briefly for a drink, to to rest our weary legs, and to take a few scenic photos.
A little time ver 2.5 hours later, we arrived in Manly ready for lunch (fish & chips, baby gem salad, a refreshing glass of Mac Forbes Reisling and a non-alcoholic Italian spritz AND the 🍓 & rhubarb Creme Brulee) at nearby Felons Brewing & Co overlooking the water, a wander around Manly Markets before heading back to Sydney on the fast ferry - A wonderful way to celebrate our walk! )26,638 steps for me and well over ver 20,000 steps for Tanya)
This morning (Sunday) I awoke tired but determined to put in more steps to make up for the shortfall during the working week, this time it was a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge into the city to do some shopping, a rest under the harbour bridge overlooking the harbour then back over the bridge and yes, I did well over 10kms again today with 21,050 steps completed. Off to sleep now!
Wishing you a fabulous week ahead!

Easing into the challenge

This weekend has been about easing into my walks in preparation for March.
Here are a few updates on my walks for the past few days.
24/1 at 11.01 kms / 13,226 steps
25/1 at 9.93 kms / 11,897 steps
26/1 at 5.08 kms / 10,387 steps

It looks like I’ll need to walk at least 13,000 steps per day to ensure I achieve my goal of 300kms for the month of March.

I'm taking on The March Charge...

...a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research.

This year marks 10 years of The March Charge, a decade of Aussies getting active and raising millions to support people impacted by cancer. I’m proud to be part of this movement and Charge for Change.

Sadly, an estimated 169,000 Australians will hear the the words “you have cancer” this year. I’m doing my part to change this by getting active and fundraising for those affected.

I’m doing this for all family and friends, and strangers who have been touched by the Big C in the hopes that one day we can find a treatment that will kick Cancer to the curb.

Last year year my target was 85kms for the month of March and a monetary goal of  $850 ($10 per km) and I managed to surpass  those.

This year my goal is 300kms for the month of March with a monetary goal of $3,000 ($10 per kms). $3,000 can help provide equipment for a research team who are working on cutting-edge cancer treatments.

Please sponsor me today and make every kilometre count! Every dollar raised will help fund Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention programs, and support services.

Together, we can tell cancer where to go. Feel the Charge and join me in making a difference!
