I'm taking on Cancer Council's The March Charge...
This year in Australia an estimated 162,000 people will hear the words "you have cancer", I'm doing my part to change this by getting active and fundraising for people impacted by cancer.
I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at the beginning 2022. Not long after this, I lost my Uncle to Pancreatic cancer. After being oblivious to the devastation that cancer causes people and their families throughout my childhood, I now share a deep connection to those that it affects.
My grandfather passed away from Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1970 partially due to the rudimentary treatment that was available at that time.
Fortunately the clinical trials of modern treatments that were made accessible through fundraisers like The March Charge resulted in my complete remission by late 2022.
This month I’ll be taking part in a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds to continue research and development of treatments in the hope that one day there will be a cure for all types of cancer.
Whatever the donation, every dollar raised will help support Cancer Council’s life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and support services.
So far this year I’ve helped provide:
2001 kids with a SunSmart education
or
91 calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20
or
27 days of a PHD student’s world-class research
