I'm Charging for my Mum, Alice
My reason for joining The March Charge
Cancer is something my family knows all too well. In 2022, I lost my mum, Alice, to liver cancer. Just three months earlier, our family was also grieving the loss of my sister-in-law, Fritzie, to cancer. On my mum’s side of the family, cancer has taken her mum and both of her brothers as well. These experiences are deeply personal and have shaped why this cause means so much to me.
They are also a big part of why I chose to work at Cancer Council. I see firsthand how vital prevention, research and support services are, not just for people diagnosed with cancer, but also for the families who walk alongside them.
This year marks 10 years of The March Charge, a decade of Australians getting active and raising millions to support people impacted by cancer. I’m proud to be part of this movement and to Charge for Change.
Sadly, an estimated 169,000 Australians will hear the words “you have cancer” this year. By getting active and fundraising, I’m doing my part to help change this, and to support the work that helps reduce cancer risk, improve survival, and make sure no one has to face cancer alone.
Please sponsor me today and help make every kilometre count. Every dollar raised will support Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention programs, and information and support services for people affected by cancer.
Together, it’s all of us against cancer. Thank you so much for being part of this with me.
