The March Charge 2026

I'm Charging for my Mum

I'm taking on The March Charge to honour my mum

I’ve never really been someone who commits to this kind of pledge. But one life changing event reshaped that mindset.

Almost three years ago, I lost my mum to pancreatic cancer. Her diagnosis came too late, the symptoms were subtle, and like she had done her whole life, she simply pushed through. I still remember sitting in the hospital room, feeling agonisingly helpless as she took her final breaths. That moment stays with me.

My mum was a fighter. She dedicated her life to her children, and from her I learned some of the most important lessons I carry with me today: resilience, perseverance, and humility. She taught, and lived the belief that no matter what life throws at you, you always have a choice in how you face it and make the best of it. Sadly, in caring so deeply for others, she forgot to take care of her own body.

This is my story, and it’s the reason I’ve chosen to be part of this movement. By sharing it, I hope to raise greater awareness about cancer, to remind ourselves to listen to our bodies, take better care of our health, and encourage our loved ones to do the same.

I also hope it inspires you to take action,  whether that’s starting, or continuing, to look after your body and live a healthier lifestyle, one step and one run at a time.

If running isn’t for you, I’d truly appreciate your support through a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps fund Cancer Council’s life-saving research and prevention programs, bringing us closer to better outcomes for future generations.

Thank you for joining me and being part of this journey
