I'm Charging for my Mum, Julie
For mum
As many of you know, we lost my beautiful mum, Julie, to cancer in 2009. She was only 50.She was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend to so many, and her loss was, and still is, unimaginable.
Instead of living out our lives with her, we live in a world of “what ifs” and “if onlys”. I was 19. My brothers were just 16 and 13.
I’ve made it my mission to raise as much as I can each year so other families might be spared the same heartbreak. Your support helps fund research, improve treatments, and provide vital support to people living with cancer, giving them hope, time, and a chance at survival. Stories like Professor Richard Scolyer’s, and the way new treatments have given him more time with his family, show what is possible when we invest in research and innovation.
This March, I’ll be running 100 km over the month in The March Charge for the 5th year in a row. The March Charge is a month-long fitness challenge where people walk or run through March to raise funds for Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention programs, and support services.
This year, an estimated 169,000 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer.
I’m doing my part to change that, and I would be so grateful if you could donate whatever you can and make every kilometre count.
With love and gratitude,
Ava xx
