I’ve been getting some extra steps into my legs while doing laps of the hospital. The most exciting news of all, I’ll be completing this challenge as a dad. We welcomed Molly Belle Field into the world on Friday. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to each and every one of you for your donations and support.

I’m truly overwhelmed by the support so far. The donations, messages, and encouragement in such a short time is incredible. Every step I take this month will be fuelled by gratitude, and by the love shown in honour of my mum and all families impacted by cancer.

I'm taking on The March Charge...

This March, every step I take is for my mum.

She was the person who gave me life, and every day I live without her is a reminder of how deeply bowel cancer can devastate a family. She didn’t just pass away, she was taken far too soon by a horrible, unforgiving disease. My dad was also affected by bowel cancer, and our family has lived the reality that so many others are facing right now.

I’m committing to walking at least 10,000 steps every day, with a personal goal of 15,000 steps per day for the entire month. Some days will be hard, but they will never be as hard as losing the person who loved me unconditionally. She was my rock, my guide, and truly a star.

Living life without the person who gave you life is something you never get used to. You just learn to wake up each day and carry the ache with you.

If you’re able to donate even $1, I would be so deeply thankful. I know times are tough, and there is absolutely no expectation, but every dollar helps fund research, awareness, early detection, and brings us one step closer to saving families from this kind of loss.

Thank you for reading, for supporting, or simply for thinking of my mum. I hope these steps can help turn heartbreak into hope and play a small part in fighting this hideous cancer.
