I'm Charging for my Step Dad, Muzz
I'm taking on The March Charge...
This March, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research, with a personal goal of running 200km (it’s been 10 years since my 200km “Ride to Conquer Cancer.. so I though the 200km was fitting again! Only this time not in one hit ha ha).
2026 marks 10 years of The March Charge: a decade of Aussies getting active and raising millions to support people impacted by cancer. I’m proud to be part of this movement and to Charge for Change.
Sadly, an estimated 169,000 Australians will hear the words “you have cancer” this year. I’m doing my part to help change this by getting active and fundraising for those affected.
I’m taking part in memory of my step dad, Muzz. As many of you know, Muzz underwent a stem cell transplant on 1 December 2022 after battling multiple myeloma, an aggressive blood cancer, for five years.
The journey was a rollercoaster, but against the odds, Muzz reached the incredible milestone of 100 days post-transplant, which we celebrated with a special trip. He had a spring in his step again, and after an incredibly tough year, we truly believed we were on the road to recovery. These memories will be held close forever.
We were so grateful for the stem cell donation Muzz received - one of only two compatible matches worldwide.
Something Mum and Muzz were deeply passionate about was donating blood. It’s something many of us struggle to find time for, but for someone in need, it can literally mean the greatest gift of all, time.
I’m also running in memory of my grandpa, who passed away from lung cancer; my friend Emma, who passed away from a brain tumour; and in support of a silent friend currently overcoming bowel cancer. And a special mention to the survivors - especially my aunty’s and uncles - whose strength, resilience and courage are a powerful reminder of why this cause matters so deeply.
Every dollar raised will help fund Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention programs, and vital support services.
Thank you for supporting my run, my cause, and the people we run for!
