The March Charge 2026

I'm Charging for my Friend, james

I'm taking on The March Charge...

This March I’m running 100 kilometres to help raise money for cancer research.

In 2009 I lost one of my closest friends, James, to bowel cancer. He was a huge part of my life. One of those people who just stays with you. The kind of person who made everything better simply by being there.

He should still be here.

It has been many years now, but losing him has never really left me. His memory still shapes me in ways I probably do not even realise. This challenge is for him.

It is also for the families who have sat beside hospital beds. For the friends who have had to say goodbye far too early. For the 169,000 people who will hear the words you have cancer this year.

This year marks ten years of The March Charge. For a decade, people have been getting active and raising millions to support those impacted by cancer. I am proud to be part of it, but for me it is deeply personal.

Every kilometre I run in March is in James’ name.

If you are able to donate, I would be incredibly grateful. Every dollar raised supports Cancer Council’s research, prevention programs and support services.

Let’s honour James.

Let’s stand behind those still fighting.

Let’s make every kilometre count.

Thank you for your support.

Well done Jake! It’s a really great thing you are doing in remembrance of your friend James. I hope your training is going well. Having survived a cancer scare myself , I wonder why bowel cancer kits cannot be more accessible to younger age groups as a precaution. Good luck! Xx
