I'm Charging for my Myself

I'm taking on The March Charge...

...a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research.

85km for the 1 in 2 people that will be affected by cancer by the age of 85! That’s half of us! But it’s not an old person disease and we can’t expect to not have to think about it until we near 85! Early onset in bowel cancer alone has increased by almost 300% in people under 45, including those, like myself, without risk factors (genetics, diet, lifestyle, environment). An increasing rate for young people, yet ineligible for screening, unless sought out at a personal cost. And even then, one would actually need to know about it and not be dismissed when seeking medical advice. I got lucky with my GP. There’s nothing taboo about poo!

Last March, I could not even walk 850m without buckling over in chest pain caused by my life saving treatment. One step in front of the other, I kept going. This March I’ll be walking 85km to raise money for cancer research, on top of work, gym and parenting life! A walk in the park compared to last March, but important steps to take so science can progress and hope is there for everyone.

This year marks 10 years of The March Charge, a decade of Aussies getting active and raising millions to support people impacted by cancer. I’m proud to be part of this movement and Charge for Change.

Sadly, an estimated 169,000 Australians will hear the the words “you have cancer” this year. I’m doing my part to change this by getting active and fundraising for those affected.
