The March Charge 2024

My Activity Tracking

6
kms

My target 31kms

The plan

Slowly increase my fitness levels to reach and smash my March goal of 31kms, you may think "ppft" a km a day is nothing! go harder or I can do better!... Well first of all, its my journey, not yours!
I'm short, fat, lazy with little legs and walking isn't my thing. I plan on getting fitter for my health, slowly, surely and hopefully long term!

January, (from mid January)1 walk a week - Achieved 10.8kms
February, a walk 2 times a week -  2.8kms so far
March, every 2nd day -

Fat, lazy and I don't wanna!

I've never liked walking as it is, I've loved bush walk and child and hiking occasionally as an adult.

With Kms of dirt tracks, swimming holes and no internet as a young teen walking the tracks with my dog, life was full of fun, adventure.

Its been years since I had a good walk, at least 3 or 4 since that farm stay with a 10km walk that I almost fainted at the end of.

Its been longer since I hiked 3 capes at Tasmania, 8 years I believe, I cant believe that was 2016! Felt like a few years go. 9 years  since Routeburn New Zealand all 32kms over a leisurely 2 and half days of wind, rain, sleet and thunderstorms!

I'm doing this to improve my fitness, there's no rush here, there's no end goal, there's only me and fitness to improve. i can already feel my aerobic fitness increasing.

My reasons why

Nearly 40, nearly 100kgs, unfit, chronic diseases, high cancer risk, high diabetic risk.
I don't want to suffer any of what is coming for me if don't start doing something.

I want live longer, healthier and happier.

For my grandfather bowel and stomach cancer, for my aunty bone cancer,  for my friend and collage cervical cancer.

I'm taking on Cancer Council's The March Charge...

...a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research, prevention programs, and support services

This year in Australia an estimated 162,000 people will hear the words "you have cancer", I'm doing my part to change this by getting active and fundraising for people impacted by cancer.

Please sponsor me today to make every KM count! Every dollar raised will help support Cancer Council’s life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and support services (like their free, confidential Information and Support line 13 11 20) for people affected by cancer.

Let's tell cancer where to go!

So far this year I’ve helped provide:

68 kids with a SunSmart education

or

3 calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20

or

0 days of a PHD student’s world-class research

My Fundraising over the years
