I'm taking on The March Charge...

March is a month-long fitness challenge raising funds for world-class cancer research. For the past 10 years, Australians have come together to get active and raise millions for people impacted by cancer.

This year, it’s deeply personal for me.

I’m taking on 350,000 steps for my dad.

He was diagnosed with bowel cancer that has spread to his lungs making it stage 4. Hearing that changes everything. It’s one of those moments where your world feels like it quietly shifts, and nothing feels quite the same after.

Since then, there have been appointments, treatments, long days, hard conversations, and a lot of trying to be strong for each other. Watching someone you love go through cancer is something you can never really prepare for. It’s confronting and unfair but it also shows you just how much strength a person can carry.

We take around 22,000 breaths every single day. Over 600,000 in a month. Most of the time we don’t even think about it  until cancer reaches the lungs and breath feels different. More fragile. More precious.

So this month, I’m turning breath into movement.

Every one of my 350,000 steps is for him.

Around 169,000 Australians will hear the words “you have cancer” this year. That’s 169,000 families navigating something they never expected.
