I'm Charging for my Myself
I'm taking on The March Charge...
At 22 years old, I was diagnosed with Stage II melanoma.
It started with a mole on my head that my dad noticed after I shaved my hair. A couple of years later, I began noticing small blood spots on my pillow. I got it checked and my world changed instantly.
What followed was major surgery, lymph node removal, countless scans and blood tests, and 13 months of immunotherapy as part of a clinical trial. It was confronting, exhausting, and something I never expected to face so young.
The good news is I’m now cancer free.
But melanoma is the most common cancer in Australians aged 20–39. It doesn’t just affect “older people.” It doesn’t discriminate. And too often, it’s preventable.
As a primary school teacher and SunSmart Ambassador, I now use my experience to educate young people about sun safety, early detection, and protecting their skin. Sli, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide truly save lives.
I’m taking part in The March Charge to raise funds for Cancer Council so more Australians can access research, prevention programs, and support services. I know firsthand how life-changing early detection and medical advancements can be.
If you’re able to donate, thank you. If you can’t, please book a skin check and remind someone you care about to do the same.
Let’s charge toward a future with fewer melanoma diagnoses.
