Six Years. Still Charging.


This is my sixth year taking part in The March Charge for Cancer Council.

I’ve been living with Stage 4 kidney cancer since 2015. Over that time, I’ve had five lines of PBS-approved treatment and a clinical trial. Those treatments gave me something priceless — time.

Time to be with my family.
Time to travel.
Time to laugh.
Time to take that Rhine River trip.
Time to live.

I’ve now run out of treatment options.

That’s a hard sentence to write.

But here’s another one:
I’m still here. And I’m still living well.

There may not be a cure for Stage 4 kidney cancer yet, but research gave me years I wasn’t guaranteed. It gave me memories. It gave me experiences. It gave me moments that matter.

And that’s why I’m still marching.

Not because I think it will change my outcome — but because it can change someone else’s.

If research can give another family more time… more birthdays… more trips… more ordinary, beautiful days… then every step is worth it.
