Cancer. Its a short word, but brings with it a long list of emotions: shock, fear of the unknown, confusion, and the ultimate question: why?

It pains me to say that so many of us know someone effected by this dreadful disease and have felt the immense impact that a diagnoses brings with it.

I have seen too many of the people I love come face to face with Cancer in its many shapes and forms. My parents, aunts, uncles, friends... some have been lucky enough to win the battle, some fought with all thier might but despite all their efforts - it sadly just was not enough.

Last year it was me.

I was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma, an extremely rare type of cancer found in the eye. It shocked me to my core, but I am one of the lucky ones. I am extremely grateful to have had an incredible team of doctors & specialists around me and my treatment was successful.

It has impacted my vision, but has not changed the way I see the world. It's my constant reminder to live life, be positive, do good and be better.

This year I will be participating in the March Charge - a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research.
