I'm Charging for my My father in law , Rod
I'm taking on The March Charge...
This year, I’ve made the decision to take on the Cancer Council March Challenge with a very personal purpose. From 12 January to the end of March, I will be running 300 kilometres in memory of my father-in-law, Rod, who passed away in 2022 from pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and devastating cancers in Australia and New Zealand. It often strikes without warning, is diagnosed far too late, and gives families very little time. For us, everything changed in a matter of weeks. Losing Rod so quickly was heartbreaking, and it’s a pain that no family should have to endure.
This challenge is my way of honouring Rod’s memory and turning grief into something positive. I’m running with my husband, Gavin, to raise awareness, to support families currently facing this diagnosis, and to help fund vital research so that future families may be given hope, time, and better outcomes.
Family means everything to me. When someone you love is affected by cancer, you realise how important it is to show up, to support one another, and to take action when you can. This is my way of giving back.
My goal is to raise $1,000
This year also marks 10 years of the March Challenge—10 years of people coming together, getting active, and raising millions for world-class cancer research. I’m proud to be part of this movement and to Charge for Change.
Every kilometre I run is for Rod. Every donation helps fund life-saving research, prevention programs, and support services for those affected by cancer.
Please support me if you can and help make every kilometre count. Together, we can create hope, drive change, and move closer to a future where pancreatic cancer no longer takes our loved ones too soon.
