I'm Charging for my Dad
I'm taking on The March Charge...
...a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research.
My name’s Angie Asimus, and this year I’m proud to be supporting Cancer Council through The March Charge.
Cancer is something that impacts all of us somehow. Our friends. Our family. The work Cancer Council does is crucial. We need support, research and better treatment options so that no one has to face cancer alone.
This year is especially personal for me. My dad was diagnosed with cancer about 12 months ago. It’s been a long road for our family, with many ups and downs. I’ll be walking for him this March, and for everyone else navigating their own cancer experience. Taking on The March Charge feels like a positive way to channel that energy into something that can help others.
A little about me: I’m a presenter with 7NEWS and a mum to two beautiful young children. Like many families, life is busy. Between work and parenting, I’m definitely time poor, but that also means I’m often on the move. I’ll take the kids for a bike ride and power walk alongside them, which keeps all of us active. I’m still working on carving out time to exercise just for myself, and I’m hoping The March Charge helps me stay accountable.
My top tip is to build movement into everyday life. I take the stairs instead of the lift, walk to the shops if I only need a few things, and spend a few minutes in the garden each day carrying the watering can or doing stretches while the TV is on. Every bit adds up.
If you’re Charging solo this March, I’d love you to join my team and walk alongside us. Together, it’s all of us against cancer. 💛
